How the heck do I delete items that load in the taskbar in the lower right hand corner of Windows XP. I know this slows the speed at which my computer fires up for ready use, but do not know how to delete any/all of the crap that continues w/ new software etc that shows up here? Help, it is whipping me into submission!

Start by looking within the software configuration itself. There often is
an option to "start when Windows starts" or similar language. Disable it.

Also check XP's Start Up directories (folders) for shortcuts to the
programs. Use the search tool to locate "Start Up", then click on the
directory folder and take at the shortcuts inside. Right-click|DELETE
those you do not want.

If these measures don't do the job, click START|RUN and type "msconfig"
(no quotes) <enter>. Click the Start Up tab...

UNcheck the items that are not wanted. If there's a question what an item
does, leave it as is. On next boot there will be a prompt. Check its
box, to not prompt again.
