Taskbar Icon Size

I thought Vista was super customizable. Then why can't I change the size of
the icons on the toolbar (not the toolbar size itself). If somebody had
marginable vision they would be SOL.

If that is still a non-feature in RTM (I'm using Vista RC2) then this would
be an accessibility issue for Microsoft.
It's easy to do under Linux desktops (KDE, Gnome, XFCE etc).

I would appreciate an answer from those who monitor this newgroup and work
for MS.

Which toolbar are you speaking of?

The one at the bottom of the screen - with QuickLaunch to the left and
running tasks at the left. Doesn't really matter to me now (but may to
others) since I'm a registered user of Winstep Xtreme from Jose Coehlo's
Winstep.net. Very superior desktop control program - check it out. I can
completely eliminate (and just as easily restore) the taskbar.

I suspect you are referring to the Taskbar Quicklaunch Icons, correct? You
could try unlocking the Taskbar (right click Taskbar > click "Lock the
Taskbar". Right click the Quick launch toolbar on the Taskbar > click View >
Large Icons.

Yes:

That works for the Quick Launch taskbar. The icons are now the
same size as the desktop icons. However the option is not available for
the icons on the right side of the taskbar - which I believe are the icons
referring to open (running) tasks. You can remove the quicklaunch toolbar
if you wish. BTW - when the Quicklauch icons are set to large icons the
icons on the lower right side (sorry forgot the technical term) are now in
two rows. I believe I will stick with Winstep programs.

Well of course Marty, there will be trade offs, and yes, the notification
area (system tray) icons are not affected by the change in Quicklaunch icon
size. If you have icons still available after the chevron on the quick
launch toolbar, they will not be resized. Because of the change in size of
quick launch icon, the Taskbar will also increase in size.

If you are having problems, I guess the only solution is to get glasses.

IIRC, changing the text size makes the system tray icons larger.

Right click Desktop > Personalise > Adjust Font Size (left hand pane) >
Custom DPI button.

Drag that slider to how ever big you want and reboot. Now you will have big
blocky icons in the system tray, and large fonts.

It should work if it still like it was in XP. I can't be bothered to try it
out just for this post's sake.
