Taskbar doesn't display open windows

Recently I added the language toolbar to the taskbar.
After doing this the open application windows
dissapeared. I have closed the language taskbar and all
other irrelevant taskbar menus. Just the Quick Launch is
left. However I still cannot see the windows that are
currently open. The ALT Tab function works and is the
only way I can know what is currently open.
