Taskbar does not display any minimized buttons. This is
not an isolated problem with a single program: it occurs
for all programs. Alt. Tab still shows the programs that
are running and minimized, but their respective buttons
do not appear in the Taskbar. I'm not sure how this
error began, but it does not coinside the installation of
any program. In Microsoft Knowledge Base cannot find any
reference to a global error that addresses this issue. I
would appreciate any help or thoughts. Thank you.

Sorry, but that suggestion did not work. Apparently, the
error is deeper than selecting or de-selecting a menu
item. I have tried everything in that vein. I have also
double-checked the Registry without success ("Line 240,
left side http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm"
and updated with "taskbarnomin.reg"). That did not work
either. Thanks to PaulM, too, but his suggestion did not
work either. D.

Hello Domenic;
I have been working on a computer with all the problems
that you described. It is also booting very slow and CPU
running at 100% for 15 to 20 min. before it will give me
total control. I say total because I do have partial
control after the long boot. These problems are the same
as many on this forum.

If you check the computer management console right after
the boot process and look in the list of services you
should see the RPC service trying to start. Most of the
other services rely on RPC to start right away but it is
taking several min. and by that time the other services
have timed out. Some in this forum think this is because
someone is hacking into all our computers but I believe
it is directly related to Windows upgrades. I have not
figured how to make this service respond the way it is
supposed to but I did get it working perfect for about
three hours today but it reverted back to the exact same
behavior. I believe I am close to a solution and will
inform you when I do.

Sorry for being so long winded
but this is the short story ;-)
