Taskbar disappears with IE6

I just recently downloaded all the patches for Windows 98 and upgraded
to IE6. Now for some reason, my taskbar at the bottom of the page
disappears when I run IE6. It sometimes reappears if I have several
Windows open. The strange thing is there is a small gap at the top of
the page showing my wallpaper, so it is like IE is to low on the
screen. This isn't a screen issue. I don't have the option of
Maximizing the screen in IE6; it just gives me the restore option.

Remove any 'Auto-hide' option for the Windows taskbar and while the window
is maximized, resize the taskbar then return it to the desired size. This is
to try to make Windows re-calculate the window size and boundaries.

If no joy, run regedit and remove these registry key values:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\window_placement

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet
Explorer\Desktop\OldWorkAreas\OldWorkAreaRects

Then reboot.
