Taskbar clock display

When I hover the mouse pointer on the taskbar clock this will display the
current date - but not always. If I open/close the system clock applet
(double-click) then the date display will work again but only for a few
minutes. Is there some logic as to when it will display and when it doesn't?
All the other tackbar icons seem to display status anytime the pointer is on
them.
Thanks

I don't know but I think the TrayClock is much better
than what you currently have:

The problem might not be the clock but WinXP itself. The display you
want might be hidden behind the taskbar. If so, you might see just the
top edge of the yellow tooltip. I found that the solution is to reboot;
just a warm reboot (restart) is sufficient.

I forgot. Kelly has an easier fix. See
<http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_t.htm> and search for the second
instance of "Tips".

Thanks for the replies.
I tried the tip but still see the same behaviour. As problems go this is
pretty minor. Really I was wondering if this is the way it is on XP or if it
is just me. BTW I notice that if I expand the taskbar then the taskbar
permanently displays time, day and date - but then I have an ugly fat
taskbar.
