I have OS Windows XP Pro. SP2.
How can I delete delete some of the taskbar icons which are no longer
operative.?
They are residing in Start>>Property>>Taskbar and Start Menu
Property>>Taskbar TAB>>Customize
they are located in the "past items" section of the dialog box which says:
Hide when inactive/Always Show/Always Hide??

sorry, this is not an answer to your dilemma. i am just searching for similar
resolution to a great nuisance that also seem to be related to SP2 update
that i performed a few days ago. i am using a new ibm thinkpad less than year
old, and now the task bar is totally screwed up. everytime i restart when
there's the expected and regular windows snafu, then the taskbar reappears
with the icons all jumbled up. this never happened before. now the power icon
appears somewhere else, and the volume icon and other things appear at
random. it's a nuisance because it takes time to search for the dozen or so
icons if they keep changing locations and some don't even appear, or appear
even though i've "deleted" them from the taskbar. any idea how to solve this?
