Task Scheduler Workaround?

This one has bugged me every since Win2K came out. Create a task for a date in
the future. Shut down the system. Reboot after the date the task was to run.
Up pops an error message saying an event that was scheduled to run was not run
because the task scheduler was not running (of course, the computer was not
running, duh) and to look at the task in the tasks folder.

Any way to stop the error message from coming up (it comes up before
logging in)?

Anyone have a workaround for this?

The tasks that I need to run can be delayed until after I log in.

Anyway to write a simple script that takes the place of task scheduler?

It should not be this hard??

On the task properties 'Task' tab check the box for 'Run only if logged on'

The only check box I have on the Task tab is "Enabled (task run at the
specified time)" and none as you suggest. I really wish it did have such an
option, that would solve my problem.

The "Schedule" tab has a drop box, which I have set to daily, that has an "At
Logon" option. However, if one selects that option the Advanced command button
is greyed out. This means that the repeat every 30 minutes option cannot be
used. Further "AT Login" means run it every time one logons which effectively
wipes out run it once a week.

I wish that somewhere in the system was a setting that said "only check the
tasks in the task folder if user xxx is logged on."

Seems like I had that capability under NT4, I just do not remember how.

* Yes you're right, that's a Windows XP thing.

* I doubt that they would have removed this feature if it existed in Windows
NT

My solution for now is to just disable the warning message. Doubt that a
working workaround exists.
