I wanted to upgrade Windows 2000 to XP - Home Edition. After performing a
few tasks, Windows installer said that it could not upgrade from 2000. Since
then I have two problems: 1) Task Scheduler doesn't run and 2) Window
Installer is not functioning.
I have attempted to Add Scheduled Task in the Task Scheduler. After some
time, it finally gave the following message:
" The new task has been created, but may not run because the account
information could not be set. The specific error is 0x80041315: The task
scheduler service is not running."
I searched the Microsoft Knowledge Base and found an article #250039 that
discussed
this error message verbatim. This article tells how to change the Registry
to correct the problem. I checked the Registry and the path that was to be
changed showed the corrected value.
Any suggestions as to how to get back to a stable Win 2K environment?
Thanks in advance for any assistance.
