My scheduled tasks all stopped working last week. I can
run them manually from sched. tasks but they wont run on
their own.

XP Home or XP Professional?
What Antivirus program are you using?
In what manner did your Scheduled Tasks stop working?

a) With messages in the Log? If so, please post message #s and text.
b) With no messages in the Log.

The Scheduled Tasks Log is visible by:

Start > Control Panel > Performance & Maintenance > Scheduled Tasks >
Advanced > View Log

If the latter, try this for temporary relief:

Start > Control Panel > Performance & Maintenance > Scheduled Tasks >
Advanced > Stop Using Task Scheduler, followed by Start Using Task
Scheduler.

Please post results back to this thread.

Using: XP Home.

Norton Internet Security.

Tasks just stopped- no messages in the log, it's as if
they never existed.

Tried to restart in task scheduler and services- nothing.

Have heard of conflict with symantec netdetect on 5 min
schedule- any thoughts?

I have the same symptoms on my HP t240a XP Home + NIS 2004 system.

Try this experiment:

1) Re-boot, leave Welcome screen showing for > 5 minutes, logon, NO
Scheduled Tasks will run at the appointed times (except for the one
NetDetect at user logon, but not the every 5 min. runs).

2) Re-boot, logon as soon as you see the Welcome screen, ALL Scheduled Tasks
will run at the appointed times.

But I can correct case (1) by Stop+Start of the Task Scheduler either via
Services or via Task Scheduler Advanced (BTW, they do slightly different
things).

I don't know whether this is a Task Scheduler or NetDetect problem.

I simply stopped then restarted symantec netdetect from
task scheduler- all is well. Have read that if by chance
netdetect and another task try to start at the same time
then conflict occurs. Quite random- my system has run
for 2+ years without showing this. My numbers were up I
guess. Thanks for your input Kenny- hope my fix helps.
