i have win2000 server, in domain, recently reinstalled since it had some net
service failures

problem is that i am unable to add new scheduled task [there is no on
running]
task scheduler service is running ok.

when saveing created job, i got the error:

---
the new task has been created, but may not run because the account
information could not be set
the specific error is:
0x8009000f: object already exists
---

when trying to open prop of that created job, there is error:

---
general page initialization failed
the specific error is:
0x8009000f: object already exists
---

the prop page opens, but "runas" field is disabled [grayed]

following the same procedure, i may without any problem to create jobs on my
second server, also win2000
my account belongs to admin group [if matter]

i found very few advices on google regarding error 0x8009000f, mainly
discussing web or exchange services.

any hint?

thnx

I would start by making sure that the Task Scheduler service
runs under the System account.

yes, on the services page, there is task scheduler srevice running ["log on
as" column] as "localsystem", like all other services.

is it good "making sure", or i need to check something else [deeper]?

i suspect that something went wrong perhaps with permisions [some system
resource is not readable/writable], but what?

my experience is quite weak, and i am not sure what to check.
i have to wait long time for my sysadmin's reaction uppon this issue.

thnx.

Here are a couple of other things you could check:
- Make sure that you have sufficient access to c:\WinNT\tasks
- Using Explorer, righ-click c:\WinNT\inf\mstask.inf, then click "Install".

Remember that rebooting fixes quite a few things . . .

What's happened to this machine since the Task Scheduler last
worked?

install mstask [good hint!] didn't changed, nor restart.
\winnt\tasks is ok, i may even create files in it from cmd prompt.

that w2000 is a file server on remote loc, and we control it over terminal
services.
there was no scheduled task running for long time ago on that sever.
few months ago there was some problem with net/lan subsystem on that server,
since it was not able to connect server -> workstation, while workstation ->
server was ok. local guys reinstalled whole system. there is no prove this
two problems are in relation, but who knows?

i know that such a remote diagnostic [like this] is awfull thing, my post
was more concerned that this error 80090000f in realtion with scheduled
tasks is almost nowhere mentioned [nothing on google]

but anyway, any your idea is appreciated.

thnx.

thnx! it helped.
i needed to delete files from ...\Crypto\RSA\S-1-5-18 folder
since it is remote comp, i've done it through ts, with regular [not safe
mode] admin logon.

also realized where was my google mistake:
i searched items "scheduler" and "task", while this article was published as
"schedule a task"

thnx again!

You're welcome.

i was looking for solution for some time, and since your advice was so
promising, i couldn't resist, but to jump to the office at saturday evening
and to test it.
