Task Pane/Help System question

hello,

i've looked, but can't figure out how to keep the task pane/help system from
opening on the right side of the window, every time i open excel.
how do i disable this feature from opening/starting all the time?

i have a problem. the startup task pane option isn't checked.
hmmm, maybe i should just re-install office.
