I entered a web site that had a .32 virus and a trojans that attacted my pc,
controlling the way it operates now, i have gotten rid of them but my task
mananger dont work now, i tried to restart it in the admin, services area..
but nothing.. what can i do ???

Hi

That error could suggest that your system is still infected. Are you sure
that you have cleared ALL the viruses/trojans from your system? Have you
run a virus check since, using the latest definitions for your AV program.

yes, i have run norton, pcdoctor, microsoft scan, nothing else shows up..
maybe its a new virus thats not on the list yet?

i found this answer to my question, thanks. ----->click start, run , and
put this in....
REG add HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System /v
DisableTaskMgr /t REG_DWORD /d 0 /f

I am experiencing the same problem with my task manager only your
instructions are a little unclear. Can someone please help me to re enable my
task manager?

To start the Task Manager...

Ctrl + Alt + Delete
or
Ctrl + Shift + Esc
or
Right click the Taskbar | Task Manager
or
Start | Run | Type: taskmgr | Click OK

Ctrl + Alt + Delete opens the Windows Security window if the Welcome screen
is turned off.

When you open Task Manager, it flashes for a second and quits.

This symptom is caused by viruses.

Task Manager, MSCONFIG, or REGEDIT disappear while opening

Double click anywhere on the Task Manager border if the Menu Bar and tabs
are not visible.

If you get an error message: Task Manager has been disabled by your
administrator.

I too had the Taskbar disappearing problem and have downloaded duplicate
files as suggested so I can now view it, but where should I go from here?
I have Norton Internet Security 2006 installed but it doesn't seem to be
stopping my problems. For some reason viruses and worms are appearing every
day or couple of days despite me being very careful and not visiting new
sites or opening emails from unknown sources. These are being quarantined
but all sorts of problems crop up from time to time eg Taskbar one. I
thought NIS was supposed to stop all this happening.
What is the best way to go about cleaning my computer up completely now I am
sure that a virus is, or has been, intefering with my computer. To add
insult to injury I seem to be completely unable to access the NIS site - it
shows as 'this page cannot be displayed'. I fear I have a serious but
hopefully not insurmoutable problem.

First, you have to keep Norton Internet Security 2006 up to date. That
means that you have to check for updates at least once a day. I do not know
anything about NIS, but there should be some sort of scheduler for doing
this automatically. Read the instructions.

Second, you need to run a full system scan at least once a day. I do not
know anything about NIS, but there should be some sort of scheduler for
doing this automatically. Read the instructions.

And last, but not least, make sure that the Norton Internet Security 2006
firewall is running.

Running a full sytem scan with an up to date antivirus should get rid of a
lot of whatever you have.
