Task Manager won't stay open

No matter how I access the Task Manager, it appears on
the desktop for about a second, then disappears. There
is an icon that appears in the system tray that stays for
about a second longer than the TM window. Why does it do
this and how do I change it to remain open like any other
program I access? Thanks much for any help!

This behavior is indicative of a virus.
Run a full virus scan. Housecall @ trend micro
works well:
