Hi I just wanted to know which programs to let running in
the task manager in windows 2000 professional I have
about 30 programs running there. Thanks, Israel

Hi Israel,

You have 30 "Processes" running. Do this.

Except for Explorer, and mouse.exe, try to "end task" everything that you can. When you get to
the ones that Windows will not allow you to close(end task), they won't let you , and you have
an answer of your curiosity, and your answer of "fear" to doing something that may mess up
your computer. Not to worry, everyone in here has at one time or another experimented and
screwed up some.

The explorer doesn't hurt to end task. What it represents is your Desktop. I will not tell you
anything to get you into trouble. Read closely. You can end task Explorer.exe, and your
Desktop will disappear, but you can press Ctrl+Alt+delete one time and if you didn't know,
your menu to give you choices of shutting down, Locking computer, etc. and it has the option
of opening the "Task Manager". If you choose Task Manager and then click applications tab,
click Add..., In the box type "explorer"<enter>, You will get a NEW Desktop. Sound
dumb, it's not. Back in earlier versions this was a recommended procedure, when there was
trouble with the Desktop.

Your answers have been given, and hope you understand. If not, ask me another question, and I
will try to come back and answer it.

good computing,

You can ask any of the "care givers" in here and most will tell you that I do this all the
time.
You also can do a search on your Menu bar of Edit... > Find... > Message > "From" line, type
"dcdon"
good luck,
don
Help another person to learn just a little after you feel more confident with your computing
skills. thx, ;-)
