My question refers to Windows XP Professional. The
symptoms is that my Task Manager will not stay onscreen
when I press ctrl+alt+deletete. In fact, it blinks into
view and then disappears in less than a second. When I
have to exit one of those webpages that fills the screen
to the edges, leaving no X to click on or any toolbar at
all, I usually use the Task Manager to get rid of the
unwanted task ot page running.
I am wondering if this could be the cause. For some
unknown reason, my computer no longer displays the full
screen blue background and "User One Password" in the
left-hand (onscreen) corner. Now, it produces a small,
playing-card size box asking for my password, whether I
want to shut the computer off, go to Task Manager, and
another option or two. In short, I now have an
intermediate step or click between cntr.+alt.+delete in
order to call up the Task Manager, and that extra step is
this box that requires selecting Task Manager first.
Can it be that there is a faulty connection of some kind
between this box and the Task Manager? How can I get rid
of this obnoxious and fussy little box anyway, if only to
test if it is the cause?
Help!
Thank you.
