When I do a cntrl-alt-del task manager flashes up for
about one second then gone. Norton firewall caught a
program IMN32.exe said owned by Microsoft minimal risk.
Same program in startup. I found I also couldn't run
msconfig. I started up a 3rd party task viewer and
killed IMN32.exe and I was able to start task mgr and
msconfig. Does anybody know what this program does and
how I can remove it from the startup menue if not
necessary.

I struggled with this problem for a while. You most likely have a virus
called W32.Spybot.worm.gen. The way that I was finally able to get rid of
this virus was to crash explorer.exe, and upon reengaging explorer.exe, the
virus protector caught it. If this is in your startup group, and you know
it's the infected file, then I'd try to go into safe mode, take it out of
the startup group, try to quarantine the file (while in safe mode), then
reboot and try to delete it. You won't be able to delete it while under
normal mode. If you only quarantine under normal mode, it'll crash your
system and escape. Good luck, and email me if you have any other questions.
