task manager - please help

I'm using windows 2000 and have 2 problems - wondering if
this is a virus...

1) I hit CTL-ALT-DEL to get to the task manager to turn off
annoying programs. The "task manager" button is not
highlighted - only choices are to cancel or shut down..

2) At the same time, right click function on mouse
disappeared...

PLEASE HELP,

It is either a virus or some other problem caused by misconfiguration,
editing the registry without the appropriate understanding, or some other
shenanigans (sp?). The fact that you even have "annoying programs" that you
want to "turn off" is suggestive of at least the shenanigans.

From what information you have provided, though, it is not possible to
diagnose as virus-related or not. Don't make the common mistake of
concluding this is a virus simply because you do not know the cause of the
problem. In that sense, the concept of "virus as the only possible
explanation" is about as scientific as the concept of the "boogeyman".

are you an admin ?

becouse grey buttons and no right click seems like
GPO stuff or other restricions .
