Task manager broken

When I bring up the task manager it shows the active programs but the
performance and processes windows don't exist. Neither does the close
button that should be in the upper right corner. I can exit from the tool
tray but not from the window itself. I've backed up before noticing this
problem and now both my bootable disks have the problem.

I'll appreciate any help you can offer.

Greetings --

You're running Task Manager in "Small Footprint Mode." Simply
double-click anywhere along the top or side borders to return to a
normal view. Alternatively, pressing <Ctrl>+<Tab> will allow you to
cycle between the various displays, and <Alt>+<F4> will close it.
