You should post to the MS.Public.Windows NG based on your O/S (XP) or other
versions being used.

This is a .Net programmer's NG,

Maybe the word *Programming* should be at the end of the NG name. I wonder
if that can be changed by MS. It's obviously an issue and a point of
confusion as the name stands now with many many posts being made that are
not related to the type of NG this is about.

Yes... and it ultimately diminishes the value and credibility of the NG as
it loses its focus.

I've thought something like the following might help:
microsoft.public.dotnetframework.general

The problem is that the groups that end in ".general" show up
as "general discussion", but they don't say about what. The MS web
interface doesn't give the whole group name. I'm guessing
that this groups is the first one that shows up in the list as
a general discussion...

Something needs to change or it's just going to continue. I wonder how
something like this can be initiated to get a name change or some kind of
clarity about this from MS?

Yes, it's very, very annoying. I passed the info on to a friend
who works in the VB Group at Microsoft about 3 months ago, but
it doesn't seem to have helped. It started happening the day
that Vista launched -- no kidding.

I do think that posting helpful responses to them is the wrong
approach. It just makes them come back for more help. I don't want
to be mean, but I also don't want this ng overrun with Windows
questions.
