Task Manager and Start up?

Hi, There is supposed to I think be application's or
program's in Task Manager that are running and I dont see
them. Just AOL. Also the one's I will have running
(NORTON, AND SOUND(?)] do not show up. What does show up
when these three are running is AOL in Task Manager but
not Norton or (Sound?)/ This is weird because the oposite
is true for the TAsk Bar that is suppoesed to show running
programs but it sont show AOL Icon, just NORTON AND
SOUND... I am reinstalling my AOL but am concerned about
the Task MAnager not showing what it suppoed to . (Norton,
and Sound. Well is this correct or what should i do?

Applications that have been minimized to the Notification Area may not
show up on the "Applications" tab. Check the "Processes" tab for a
full list of all running software.
