Can't fiqure out how to change the task bar to show more
than a one letter description of what is open. Any hints
on where to start.

Hi...It sounds like you've got one of the the scrollers on the taskbar all the way over to the right and the taskbar locked. Right click on your task bar and click on Lock the Taskbar to uncheck it. You can adjust the height of the taskbar if you like, and you can play around with where you want the scrollers on the taskbar to be. The scrollers are those little sets of dots. Hover your mouse over them and you'll see the horizonatal arrow appear, allowing you to drag the scrollers left or right. In your case, the right sided scroller may be all the way over to the right of your taskbar. Try scrolling it further to the left to allow you more room for your open programs/windows to appear. Don't forget to relock the taskbar after you're done. This helps prevent you from accidentally resizing it.
