Task bar problems

My task bar indicator for programs that are running, has disappeared and I
can't find and don't know where to look. Can any one help?
 
Do you mean that you don't have a taskbar showing at all ? What happens if
you hold the mouse down at the bottom of your screen, does it change to an
arrow ?

Sorry, I'm not sure I understand your question. Do you mean that the
task bar has disappeared?

If so, it might have shrunk to zero lines high. Move your mouse cursor
to the very bottom of the screen and wiggle it up and down slightly,
trying to make it turn into a two-headed arrow. If it does, click and
drag it upward to the size you want.

If that doesn't work, it may have also been moved to another side of
the screen. Try the same on the other three sides.

Finally, if none of those work, go to
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_abc.htm, click T, then under
Taskbar, click Taskbar is Missing.
 
No, I have a task bar which functioning normal but the icon indicators that
appear when a program (window) is active or running do not appear. The only
way that I can retrieve a window that has been diminished is to right click
on the task bar and select 'task manager' and then double click the window or
program that I want. the usual way is to click on the icon for the respective
program tha t has been diminished.

I tried that and it gave me an error message of:

my minimized programs are still missing. can you help me?
