Task Bar Inactive icons

Inactive icons no longer "hide" all are visable although
the Hide inactive icons box is checked. It has worked
fine for months but has just stopped. Why?
 
Visit http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_i.htm and scroll down to
"Icons - Notification Area - Chevron Missing".
