What the whale is this 11+K target that I can't get rid of
in my taskbar? Is it spying on me ?

I don't know--care to describe it more carefully? Does Microsoft
Antispyware detect anything on your system?

.
it is definitely the same icon as ms antispy. it reads:
gcasDtServHolder. i know it's related, but other than a
schedule of regular scans, I have nothing else
configured. its consuming 11,500+ KB according to the
taskmaster. do i need it?

Sorry for the facetious reply-- this is much clearer. Do you have the
Microsoft powertoys alt-tab replacement installed, or an nvidia video card
with a desktop extender function?

I believe what you are talking about is supposed to be a hidden window--i.e.
nobody is supposed to see it, but there are a number of circumstances in
which it becomes visible. Yes--you need it. I would expect it to go away
sometime in the beta, but I could be wrong, too.

Remember that in addition to scheduled or manual scans, and scheduled or
manual definition updates, there are 59 checkpoints being monitored by the 3
agents--that real-time protection, along with the Spynet community are a
major differentiation between this product and some of the others.

.
I have downloaded power toys, but have not yet opened the
file to install them. I run a WinFast2000XP video
cvapture card, but video is still Intel integrated.
though it's an eyesore, it doesn't really bother. as long
as it indicates active protection, OK. i'd still rather
do without it.

Got any place you can post a picture of it? You can send it to me by email
if you want--just drop the last two terms of the address as posted.

I think you are seeing a bug, but I'd like to be sure.
