After running the compatibility check software on my existing WIN98
system, I get an entry in the section for hardware (or software
registered as hardware) that might need additional files:

TapeDetection
TapeDetection

I have a Seagate STT20000A Travan drive installed, and use Stomp
BackUp MyPC software. Searches for TapeDetection, and variations,
have not turned up a reference at any of the 3 sites.

A general search turned up some fairly old references that it might be
the backup program. Any specific information?

Hi,

Sounds like it is detecting the Win98 msbackup utility. You should be able
to ignore that or uninstall it (control panel/add & remove/windows setup
tab). You may want to disconnect the Seagate drive (though it is listed as
compatible) and uninstall Stomp before proceeding with the upgrade to avoid
conflicts. Also check that your version of Stomp is compatible with WinXP,
you may need an upgrade.

Rick,

Thanks for the info. I thought I had killed off MS Backup, but will
check again. Probably does not matter, as you said.
