I finally got the audio conversation feature to work in MSN Instant
Messenger, but something really strange happened last evening.

The voice sounded like I was blowing bubbles at the same time that I was
talking. I thought it also sounded machinegun like. It might have sounded
like a scuba diver trying to talk while underwater, but it was impossible to
understand.

What on earth do you think caused that, or more importantly--how do I fix
it?

Thanks for any help you can provide.

please tell how you got audio to work we would all like to know are you
running 6.1??

Microsoft people please help really want audio to work. have just bough web
cam so can have "free" conversations with family spread all over the UK we
have Cable broadband 512k service and we can see webcam for the connection
but the lack of audio is driving us mad.

Could change to another provider Yahoo etc but why should we.

Adrian,

I am indeed running 6.1 and I fixed the audio problem by de-activating the
Windows XP firewall, but I am connected to the Internet via a 56 kps dial-up
service. I do not know if you can, or should, disable the Windows XP
firewall while using a broadband connection. I fought this audio problem
for months before discovering the firewall fix.
