taking xp off and going back to 98se

hi there.
i need some help please .
i have a laptop that i would like to take xp off and put
98se on .because you do not get dos i cannot format the
hard drive to clear all things off.
i have all the drivers and ready to go but its ok putting
xp on but how do you take it off.

You cannot boot from the drive that you want to format. Use a floppy
bootdisk to prep the drive before installing Win98. Also before making
changes, check that the Win98 boot disk can communicate with the CDrom
drive. Review the Win98 setup.txt file on the Win98 CD for directions on a
variety of installation scenarios.

If XP is using NTFS, fdisk will mention a "non-MSDOS" partition. Delete the
partition. Recreate it. Then format FAT32. If XP is already using FAT32,
all that needs to be done is format.

Do you have a plan B just in case the laptop doesn't take kindly to Win98?
In other words, if the Win98 installation doesn't work out -- will you be
able to restore the laptop to the operating system that it was shipped
with?
