what kind of program can i use to take pictures of what you see on your
monitor? for example, i would want to take a picture of what is on my
desktop; or i'd want to take a picture of a part of another picture; a
picture of a favorite scene of a video; a picture of the titles of the songs
that i have; and such and such... i know there's one for macintosh, since
i've used it before, but i've never seen any for windows. thanks

I have found the following freebie to be quite
useful for acquiring quick screen shots.

I have it set so all I have to do is:

1) Press...Print Screen...
2) Drag a box around the content I wish to save...
3) Press enter...
The screen shot is immediately saved as a .jpg
in a folder of my choice.

Gadwin PrintScreen

BTW...it doesn't work for video...for that you
need a program that can do a capture.

If you want to take snapshots of your screen ( or portions, or windows) you
can use Irfanview (freebee). If you want to take video clips you can use
Camtasia studio.
