Hi
Boot in safe mode and login as administrator
Go to device manager, highlight the CD-rom amd right click; select unintall and then click Apply and OK
Shutdown the machine
Unplug the Ac power and open the chassis, unplug the 12Volt power cable as well as the IDE cable
Unscrew the screws at the both sides of the CD-rom drive and remove it
Place the new CD/RW or DVD Combo drive (jumper set as master) into the drive case, fix the screws and then re-connect the power cable as well as the IDE cable
Close the chassis and replug the AC power
start the PC and windows should find the new drive and install the drivers
By the way, if the chassis have spare case space for the new drive, you can just connect it as slave drive on the 2nd IDE channel
Make sure you have set the jumper for the new drive as slave
Also, if the new drive is faster than the old CD rom, set the new drive as master and the old one as slave, than connect the IDE cable and power cables properly
Hope it helps
Pete
