Taking longer to boot

I noticed recently my Dell XP system is taking significantly longer to boot
(still much less time than my old W98 Gateway system); about 3 times as long
as it did even a week ago. I'm not aware of any viruses (just ran my AV
software) and everything else works fine and in normal speed.

Any ideas? Anything I should try? I'm thinking of furst looking at
msconfig/startup, but I'm not sure what to look for.

This may help: "Resources for Troubleshooting Startup Problems in
Windows XP" (http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=308041).

what is listed under Startup (X:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start
Menu\Programs\Startup. msconfig/see what is listed under the startup tab. As far as
what to look for; Do you need Word to start, some game?
