is it possible to set up your computer so that you may
receive an incoming call while you are online?
i know it is possible i was just womdering how to set
mine up so that when online if someone calls my home the
screen will pop up and say you have an incoming call do
you wish to ignore it or receive it and you click on one
and can take the call?!?!?!?!

Yes you can ... with some caveats. Generally (but not always), you need a
V92 modem AND, you need V92 connection to your ISP.

Most of the newer V92 modems will provide the software (applet) to allow you
to use MoH (Modem on Hold). Be sure to get the latest drivers. There are
also third party programs available but I can't recommend any specific ones
(just remember, if it's free, check the privacy issues very carefully!). Do
an internet search as the other responder indicated.

Modemsite.com has a good writeup on all of this at

try this:
go to callwave.com. We used to have this. You download
it online for a small fee (I forget what it is) then call
your phone company and tell them that you have it. While
you're online a message pops up with a ringing sound. I
don;t remember if you can actually pick up the phone but
I remeber you can actually listen to the message while
you're still online

there is also a device that we use now that can be found
in stores, it's called catch-a-call. The phone will ring
your on the internet and you have 2 rings to pick it up
by or it will go to your answering machine. It kicks you
off the internet though and if you have caller ID the
number won't show up. It's worth it though. Hope this
helps!
