Hi
I need to take a database offline for maintenance is it possible to fix it
so when someone clicks on a link to the database it redirects to another
page or do I have to change all the links on every page to direct to another
page
Thanks
Paul M

You would have to change all links or temporarily shut down the site depending on how the database
is being used. Also if just updating a small amount of content, then consider creating admin pages.

If you feel your current issue is a results of installing
a Service Pack or security update, please contact
Microsoft Product Support Services:

If the problem can be shown to have been caused by a
security update, then there is usually no charge for the call.

Thanks Thomas
I suppose I will have to do it in the small wee hours when most are asleep

You can Export the DB and work on it w/o shutting down the site
When done w/ the DB just stop your server for the few minutes it may take to File Import (or upload) your updated DB (and then
publish any page changes affected by the DB edits)

A lot of web host may not offer the option to start and stop the virtual server, so those users
would have a problem with doing this.
