Taking a backup of AD Integrated DNS

Is there a way that I can take a backup of my DNS if it is AD integrated or
is this data held within the ntds.dit file? Our DNS now contains many
entries and rekeying would be a nightmare. Also, I may not want to restore
AD just to get my DNS back.

Thanks,

Thanks,

Convert the zone to standard primary, this will create a text file in the
%systemroot%\system32\dns dir with the zonename.dns. Then you can back this
file up and change it back to AD integrated.
If you lose the zone, you can recreate the zone as standard primary and use
this zone file to get data from before you convert to AD integrated.

Kevin is correct, but I think that perhaps just making a
System State backup might be more complete and more
convenient.
