Take a look at these cheesy cases

I love flame and quilt maple but done this way it just looks cheesy.
It looks like phony wood print glued onto a plastic/metal case.
Theyve got to come up with a whole new frame for it made of polished
metal or something.

Granted, it is a subjective thing, but the Lian Li 6070 looks great in
Madrone Burl.

The less expensive cases still look like, ermm, junk.

It does look great, but I wonder how well wood veneer holds
up on a flexible metal sheeting that's also subject to
slight thermal cycling.

I'm a bit surprised they'd use those cases, and would be
disappointed if I paid $400 and THAT was what showed up on
the doorstep. Almost seems like it'd be better to just have
a solid wood case with a metallic coating for EMI emissions
purposes.

Depends on the adhesive used and how carefully the veneer was rolled.

I did build an enclosure with 5/8" birch for an older case. Since the
front was flat, it was easy enough. With the curved front of the
Antec(Chen Ming) cases, it's more difficult to get a seamless look.

This is OT, but does anyone else find the scrolling text used on that
website to be incredibly annoying? Maybe it's just me, but that scrolling
just gives me a headache.

for $400 I would just buy a cheap but efficient case, and get a nice
cabinet with a door to put it in. Doesnt even have to go under the desk and
could have a printer on top of it.
