Tagan PSU started 'Ticking'

My Tagan psu has developed a ticking sound... :(

Its only now and again, well for the moment anyway.
Had a google about to see what i could find out, seems to be a common-ish problem.
At first i thought it was one of the fans, but now after reading a bit i aint so sure....
It only started this week sometime, not sure exactly when though.

I just wondered if anyone knows anything more on the problem, as its started to bug me! its only a couple of months old so dont wanna buy a new one if it can be helped.

Any info appreciated.. :)
 
If only a couple of months old you won't need to buy a new one ... RMA it. ;)

What is it you found out about the 'problem', we would all like to know.
 
thats kinda worrying, i have one and there was a ticking coming from my case a while back its stopped now but i thought it may have been the HD
 
Yeah, I'd RMA it too as it shouldn't be doing that. How often does it tick?
 
i've decided to have a search and have found this

When I first bough my Tagan there was a very annoying 'ticking' noise when it was turned on. I thought it was too loud to be electrical 'buzz' from a component inside. Sure enough on further investigation (a pencil through the rear fan guard to stop the fan - technical huh :/ ) I found the rear exit fan to be rubbing on a component as it was spinning. I inserted a small piece of the plastic that insulates standard electrical cable, to 'push' the guilty component away from the fan. This has solved the problem. Unfortunately by opening the power supply I voided the warranty so was unable to send off for a new one.

BUT... The above links are more about the ticking it makes when the pc is off but the psu is 'on', and mine also sounds llke its a fan not an electronic noise. :confused: mine does make the 'electric' noise, but you have to press your ear up against it to hear it!

I did wonder if it was the HD but on closer inspection, it deffo aint.

I'll try RMAing it dunno if it'll do any good though, going by what i have read. Sounds like it maybe a common thing in tagan psu's.

It does sound like its a fan though, my first impression was that it was dust or something in the grill, but i removed it and cleaned it out and its still there....

Oh and it ticks almost all the time, more often than not. :(

Hope that makes sense to you guys, i know what i am trying to say!
