tabs have disappeared, and unable to hide menu bar

i no longer have tabs. now i have to open a new window for everything i want
to do. they were there at one time.... and then just disappeared!!! also, i
cannot hide the menu bar. it is there all the time now, and does not even
appear on the drop down menu... ?????
 
Hi,

Tools/Internet Options/General tab, click on Tab settings and re-enable this
feature. If it is enabled already, uncheck the box, click apply/ok and then
close all open browsers. Repeat to re-enable this feature.

hi rick-- i tried doing this, but it will not allow me to click on "apply" as it is in faded letters---??? which seems bizarre to me! aaarrggghhh!!! why would it be like that? the box was already checked... so i followed your steps, but it does me no good if i cannot apply it! any suggestions?? also-- do you have any suggestions as to how i can hide my menu bar? when i click on "view" the drop-down has the menu bar checked-- and it will not UNcheck when i try to uncheck it! it just stays checked! lol weird stuff!
