Tablet PC or best notebook?

For work purposes I want to be as paper-less as possible, which means using a notebook in meetings etc. Anyone have experience of using tablet pc's? are they any good? Do they represent value for money or are they overpriced gadgets?

What's better? any particular notebook?

Try Rock who do good laptops and who's support & service is 1st class.
Stay clear of Mesh who's customer service & support is very poor!
 
I haven't had any experience of them myself, but saw an interesting bit on ultra portable pcs on The Gadget Show the other week.

I've seen a few people with laptop/tablet combos, i.e. the lid of the monitor swivels back around and is touchscreen. That seems like a great idea if you can find one that does that as you have the best of a laptop and tablet all in one :)

Handwriting recognition is excellent on new PDA's, and I guess it is even better on tablet PCs :D
