tables within a shape

I have a very long table with 3 columns. I have this table
within an oval shape. The oval shape is huge to have
plenty of room for the table.

I have 2 problems.
1)When I want to stretch the oval to make it
bigger, when I put my curser on the bottom line to stretch
it, it only allows me to stretch it the 1 or 2 inches that
is viewable space on the screen. I have to keep stretching
a little bit at a time since it wont let me grab it and
stretch it to make it much longer. I have to stretch the
shape in order to make the table bigger. The table can
only be as big as the shape.

2)when i am in the middle or somewhere in the bottom of
the table, i get a blank bar accross my table that blocks
out all the text. I can see the text when I'm in preview
but then when I'm trying to edit the text in the table, I
just get a blank bar across the table and can't see the
text. Also, the table sometimes disappears and I have to go
back and forth from preview to normal in order for it to
display again.
These problems get real old when I am doing a huge table.
If I get rid of the shape, my table is gone.
If I move the shape to the back, the table still acts up.
what to do?

Drawn shapes are only compatible with IE, and this makes
them nearly useless anyway.

I suggest getting rid of the oval shape and designing your
page some other way.
