We have intermittent problems when someone with
PowerPoint `97 views tables created with PowerPoint 2000,
even if we "save as" Office 97. Has anyone else
experienced this? Thanks.

Can you please describe the problems?

You don't need/want to save to what you think if PowerPoint 97 version.
PowerPoint 97 and PowerPoint 2000 share the same file format, so always save
as "Presentation(*.PPT).

It is known that the table object in version 2000 is not the Word table that
version 97 uses. So, if a PPT table object is created in version 2000 and
then opened in version 97 it cannot remain the table object 97 does not
support. Version 97 will take that table and convert it into individual text
boxes (that used to be cells) and then insert lines between them (that used
to be borders). So, you basically loose the table functionality. Maybe
others have workarounds or ways to deal with it, but I'm just stating the
mechanics.

On the other hand, if you create a Word table in a 2000 slide and then send
it to a 97 machine, it will come out fine.
