Is there a way to prevent a table from being linked to or imported into
another database?

I posted this question in the security discussion group, but did not receive
a response. I have set up security on my db using the users network id and
set up permissions based on that ID. That allows them to only view certain
information via forms, however, what is preventing them from opening a new
database and linking or importing all the data that exists in the tables in
my 'secured' database?

Any advise?

Thanks,
J

Dear J:

I'm just learning about security, but since no experts have answered your
question, I'll hazard an answer:
Access security, properly applied, can prevent this. I have recently worked
through the process and secured an mdb. I couldn't link to or import from
the tables unless I was an authenticated user...

Cut and paste the following into a Google "groups" search:

stop people from linking to tables group:microsoft.public.access.*

The first two threads that will be returned deal with your question....

J,
Take a look at the Security FAQ. You will need to secure the database to
prevent that. There is a link to the FAQ on the Security page of my website.
