Hello,

I am using PowerPoint 2002. Is there a way to have slide
numbers appear on a summary slide (like a table of
contents)? I was also curious if PowerPoint had dot
leaders as a format option for tabs (like you have in MS
Word).

Thanks for your input.

Jeff

PowerPoint doesn't have built in dot leaders. That one I know. A VBA
solution for the other one (slide numbers on the summary slide) I think has
been posted before, but all I am coming up with at the moment is this PPT
FAQ entry:
Create agenda slides with a "moving highlight"
http://www.rdpslides.com/pptfaq/FAQ00540.htm
(Hey Steve - the content of that page looks really weird. Can you put some
line breaks in it at least?)

Hold on - Just remembered, it is in with this PPT FAQ entry:
Slide numbering - Slide XX of YY
http://www.rdpslides.com/pptfaq/FAQ00548.htm

Let us know if neither of these does what you need!

[CRITICAL UPDATE - Anyone using Office 2003 should install the critical
update as soon as possible. From PowerPoint, choose "Help -> Check for
Updates".]

Hello,

PowerPoint does not have the specific capabilities that you are looking for
so the total number of pages would either have to entered manually or you
would have to write a macro or use an add-in (I see that Kathryn has
already pointed you to the add-in workaround), and you would have to
approximate dot leaders (or any leading characters) manually.

If you (or anyone else reading this message) think that PowerPoint should
be able to automatically calculate and insert the total number of slides,
or other calculated/dynamic fields such as filename, path, modify date,
etc, and support for leading characters for tab stops (without having to
resort to VBA or add-ins), don't forget to send your feedback to Microsoft

It's VERY important that, for EACH wish, you describe in detail, WHY it is
important TO YOU that your product suggestion be implemented. A good wish
submssion includes WHAT scenario, work-flow, or end-result is blocked by
not having a specific feature, HOW MUCH time and effort ($$$) is spent
working around a specific limitation of the current product, etc. Remember
that Microsoft receives THOUSANDS of product suggestions every day and we
read each one but, in any given product development cycle, there are ONLY
sufficient resources to address the ones that are MOST IMPORTANT to our
customers so take the extra time to state your case as CLEARLY and
COMPLETELY as possible so that we can FEEL YOUR PAIN.

IMPORTANT: Each submission should be a single suggestion (not a list of
suggestions).
