table of contents master document pagination

I have created a table of contents from several subdocuments and have finally
gotten it to work -- almost. The TOC pagination for some of the chapter
subdocuments displays in roman numerals. Can you help please?

the usual disclaimers about (using) MasterDocuments aside: what exactly
is your TOC field code?

AFAIK, the TOC always shows what a standard plain PAGE field on the
given targe page would show.
