I have a user who keeps bringing me problematic slides he has tables
on where the the table extends off to the right, off the slide, far
enough that I cant even select the right most margin.

He has not been able to verbalize how exactly he makes the tables (or
copies them from other programs?) so I have not had a chance to see
his methods; Im just fixing via email slides he has problems with.

I know, in general, the best way to create tables in PPT is to create
manually with tabs and text boxes. However, does this problem
inidicate exactly the [incorrect] method he is using to create the
tables, and is there a way to easily select the right most table
border to drag it back into view?

Thanks
Todd

It sounds like he might be doing a straight copy and paste of an Excel
worksheet into the slide. If you ask and determine this to be the case,
have him use the Edit > Paste Special function, with "Microsoft Office Excel
Worksheet Object" selected. Sometimes just asking "Did you do
.....this....?" can stimulate a user to get more articulate. At least we can
hope.

Thanks Sonia. That may be it. They are heavily Excel dependent. I
will sleuth it out a bit and post back. Thanks!

Try zooming WAY out - with luck, that'll get you to where you can see and
manipulate the right edge, Todd.

I don't know. You should probably recommend that he avoid that template
until someone figures out whether it is causing the problem. I'd love to
receive a copy of the template to see if I can spot something. You could
send it to sonia @ soniacoleman.com (without the spaces) if you like, and
I'll take a look.

Turns out not to be Excel. It usually happens when he has made a
table using PPTs table feature. Table looks fine. When he applies a
different template to the presentation, the table get forced to 16",
adds 2 extra columns, and generally get whacked. Obviously seems like
soemthing resident in the template applied, but within that template I
can see/find no feature involving such changes to tables. Hiiden
somewhere?
