Table information on powerpoint "refuses" to be the same as the da

I have "edited data" in excel. The table in power point is supposed to read
the text in the category exactly (ie Jul-08) but instead it's replacing it
with another value (ie Jan-08)?? I have several other tables with similar
data that is displayed fine. If i change the data to read as "text" it's ok -
but I shouldn't have to????Can anyone help?

How did you insert the Excel data onto the slide?

Does that "similar data" include dates?
