I have a bunch of specs with a heading that I want to display in the center
of a page.

Specifications for Widgets
Very handy Cheap
Apple Pie Mother
10 pounds Lo Cal

I can't seem to get the alignment right. The terms should be left aligned,
but the two columns should be centered under the heading.
There has to be a simple answer to this but I've spent half a day trying to
get these aligned so they look OK.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Using your example, table with 4 rows, 2 columns below

Row 1, set cell alignment to middle and center

Rows 2 thru 3, set cell alignment to middle and left for both columns

Dear George,
In the example you gave above, I sense that you may be having a problem
differentiating between table alignment and cell alignment. Right click
in the table, select table properties, and make sure that the
horizontal alignment is set to default and the vertical alignment is
set to default (or perhaps top). instead of having two columns, try
using five; two on the outside edges that hold nothing, and are held
open by a blank gif of whatever size seems appropriate for you, one in
the middle that is blank also as a separator, and in between those, the
columns holding your information. In your top title row, where you
want the title specifications for widgets, select all the cells in the
entire row, right click and select merge cells. then right click in
that new cell, select cell properties, and change the horizontal
alignment to center. The table properties, accessed by right clicking
inside the table, should specify a width of, say, 90 to 95%. Specifying
a table width is not exactly HTML 2.0 compliant, but no one is using
Netscape 3 anymore. The cells themselves should specify no particular
width. How wide they are is determined by how wide you make the
transparent gif picture that you place in the top row of any column.
To select a column, hold the mouse down in the top cell of any column
and drag down to the bottom cell of that column. Right click in the
now selected cells, and select cell properties. Tell me when your shop
is open, I wanna try your Mother's apple pie. Good luck, George.
