I have a form that I creating that will use tabs. However, after I put the
tabs on the page when I move a field to the tab area it vanishes. I'm using
the form wizard to make the form. This is really strange to me. I haven't
used access that much, so it doesn't take much to weird me out. But, this
really seems strange. Anyone have any ideas what's going on? Thanks much

When you're trying to move controls (not "fields"; tables have fields,
forms have controls) onto a Tab page, you need to be sure to select
the tab page first. Dragging won't work: the textbox or whatever will
end up either in front of the tab control (always visible regardless
of which page you select) or behind it (hidden from view).

Select the tab page by clicking *on the tab*, not on the surface of
the page. The page should darken, indicating a successful selection.
Then you can place the control. It's often easiest to select the
control, Ctrl-X to move it to the clipboard, select the page, and
Ctrl-V to paste it; you can then move it where you want on the page.

I appreciate your reply, but I'm still confused. I've just started getting
into Access and while I understand the basics of a database, I'm still at sea
about using multiple tables. I was a Cobol programmer for years quite a few
years back and built 'databases' with programs and knew how to do it, but I
haven't quite grasped the necessary concept of linking multiple tables and
using them. I understand how to create the relationships between them, but I
just don't know how to get the data from each table onto my form. These are
probably gonna sound like stupid questions, but I'm hoping you can shed the
light I need to open up my eyes on Access. When you create a form using the
wizard, you pick a table and you have a field list. Then the fields appear on
the form and you can move them around. But, you can't move them onto a tab
page? So, if you can only move controls onto the tab page what's the point of
selecting the table in the first place and having the field list to choose
from. I know this is rambling and I apologize and once again I appreciate
your help and also your patience. Do you know of any books that might help?
I have a couple, but neither one seems to address the problem that I'm
having, at least in a way that I've been able to comprhend. I've got a
feeling that there's some little something that hasn't quite clicked on yet
that when it does I'll be able to do what I need to do in Access. Came across
an Microsoft Official Academic Course for Office that has helped a lot, but
in a couple of the chapters on Access it refers to taking up what looks like
something that would help, but those chapters aren't in this book. My luck.
Sorry to be such a pain. Thanks again.
