Heidi

I am trying to create a Tab Control in my form and no
matter what I do it is always a solid white instead of
being transparent. Any controls I had you can't see when
you try to move them onto the page. I try to change the
backstyle and it still is white regardless. I know this
is supposed to work, so what am I doing wrong? Please
help!!!

Thanks,
Heidi

Transparent does not work if the database is running on Windows XP with
themes turned on.

If you use XP, you can right-click your desktop, choose Properties, and
under Themes choose Windows Classic.

Ah - thank you very much! Now may I ask... I have an old
database that someone else had started before with tab
controls, and I have since redone a lot of it on my xp
system but kept the tab controls. This one still keeps
the transperant/same color as background setting even
though I have a normal XP theme. Why would this not be
affected now as well?

Thanks!

Hi Heidi

You will notice that that old database does not use themed controls, i.e.
command buttons are not rounded with a graduated edging. It has to do with
the state in which the database was saved. If you created a new database and
imported everything, it would use the themed look.

Great Thanks!!!

Hi,

My name is Amy Vargo. Thank you for using the Microsoft Access Newsgroups.

Is the issue specific to this form only? Test inserting a tab control on
another form. Insert a text box or some type of control on the first page.
View the properties of the tab control. Set the BackStyle property to
transparent. It should be the same color as the form.

If the issue occurs in any form in this database, test using another
database, such as the Northwind.mdb sample database. Verify that the issue
does not occur in another database. Then test the issue on another
computer. If it does not exist on another computer, then check your
Windows fonts. You might have a font issue or video card problem that needs
to be addressed.

I hope this helps! If you have additional questions on this topic, please
respond back to this posting.
