Can anyone opoint me to a small simple program that displays the current
memory/cpu use in the systray ?
Simple bars and perhaps tooltips preferred.
So far I used Tclockex:

http://www.rcis.co.za/dale/tclockex/

But I want something else as I have another desktop-clock and don't need
the time to be shown in the systray anymore.
TIA

You can use the task manager and hide when minimised. This will
display a bar graph, but not percentages. However, it doesn't always
appear for some reason.

Sorry, should have added: OS is win98SE.
Don't want process explorer, just a simple indicator.

I'm following your suggestion & testing freemeter now. Follow up
later. Looks good so far.

Yep, tried that one, and this one:

Carbonmon: http://carbon.shellscape.org/

I like Freemeter the best so far, allthough it uses more resources than the
other two, which is annoying for a program for this purpose...
From my observations and also using 98se , the only two programmes ive
found that gives a true cpu reading is process explorer and iarsn
taskinfo (not free).Freemeter doesnt (on my system anyway) give a true
cpu reading. There was a known bug even with system monitor

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=KB;EN-US;Q227131&ID=KB;EN-
US;Q227131&

and the true cpu usage being shown.Unfortunatley many other cpu
programmes give the same reading.Only the trwo ive mentioned (that ive
tried anyway) seem to function correctly. It may be worth you comparing a
few and especially process explorers cpu readings with other ones.

I should mention that process explorer can be configured to just show the
tray cpu usage icon on startup. If memory serves , it uses a lot less
resources than free meter too.
