What if your running XP but now can't upgrade to SP2? Are there any other
options? My system is 200MHz and min is 233MHz

Time to get a new computer. Sorry. The alternative would be to install a
less-demanding operating system like some of the smaller, less
graphically-intensive Linux distros.

I am amazed that SP original or SP-1 installed on a 200 MHz CPU.

Are you happy with the performance? I noticed that XP was a lot slower than
98 on a 450 Mhz CPU, and that was even after upgrading the RAM to 384 Meg.

Windows 98SE might be a better choice for yuor hardware. Or, one of several
LINUX variations. If you want to play with LINUX, without writing anything
to the hard drive, download one of the "live" CD images from:

I happen to like KNOPPIX, since it comes with a full office suite and other
programs.

To burn any of these ISO-type files to CD, use something like Nero or Easy
CD Creator, which supports "burn from image".

As mentioned, your system is not really a good candidate for XP.

You could in theory upgrade to a slightly faster processor. But IIRC a
pentium 1 tops out an 233mhz, so that wouldn't really help.

Best OS for that computer is probably windows 98. NOT WinMe!

However, If your computer is somehow running acceptably as is, then
leave it alone.
